On the evening of June 18, the Criminal investigation agency of Binh Duong provincial police urgently arrested Nguyen Trong Long for disturbing public order after he kicked a female ride-hailing driver on the street.
According to police reports, around 10 a.m. on June 17, Long was sitting in the front passenger seat of a 7-seater car traveling on Le Hong Phong Street.
While waiting at a red light, he rolled down the window and threw a toothpick out, which hit a female ride-hailing driver, identified as L.T.C.L.
Mrs. L. verbally confronted him, which led to a verbal dispute. As both vehicles moved forward to the next intersection, Long suddenly opened the car door, got out, and forcefully kicked Mrs. L., causing her and her motorbike to fall onto the road.
The entire incident was captured on video by witnesses. After the video was shared on social media, it sparked public outrage, with many demanding legal action. Mrs. L. later filed a report with Phu Loi ward police.
At the police station, Long admitted to the act and said he had consumed alcohol prior to the incident.
He misinterpreted Mrs. L.’s words like provocation, which led to his loss of control.
He expressed remorse and regret, encouraged that he had acted impulsively and irresponsibly.
According to VnExpress, Mrs. L. only suffer minor abrasions and is currently recovering well.
The Binh Duong provincial police are continuing to compile the case file to prosecute Long in accordance with the law.
